The Tilted Halo
A Full-length Stage Play in Two Acts and an Epilogue.
Though the play has religious overtones, it is a gritty adult-themed character
study which will carry an advisory for language and adult themes.

Milo Bledsoe, a poor black man from Tupelo, Mississippi has been in prison for over 20 years. Josh Jeffers, a young white kid of privilege from Richmond, Virginia for 20 minutes. Both have been sentenced to life, having been convicted of murder. As the two tell their stories, their very different backgrounds and experiences collide. Despite this, Milo and Josh forge an uneasy relationship, and an unlikely bond. One relies upon God to bring him solace, while the other manipulates people into giving him what he wants.

Character Breakdowns:

GUARD ONE: Guard One (“John”)is a male in his late 20’s to early 30’s of any race, ethnicity. Medium to heavy-set build. He’s got a bit of a crush on Dr. Janine Turner. Approximately 14 speaking lines.

GUARD TWO: Guard Two (“Michael” or “Michelle”) is also an adult male or female in his/her. The character has a bit of a chip on his/her shoulder and seems to have something to prove. Approximately 12 speaking lines.

MILOE BLEDSOE: Milo is a black male in his late 30’s to early 40’s. From Tupelo, Mississippi, Milo is a good natured soul who didn’t complete high school and finds himself in prison for a murder he may or may not have committed. Actor will have a medium to large build and the ability to speak with southern accent and dialect is a plus. 100+ speaking lines and dialogues.

JOSH JEFFERS: Josh is a white male in early to mid-20’s. Josh is a well-built and classically handsome young man from Richmond, Virginia. Like Milo, he too is incarcerated for a crime he may, or may not have committed. Josh has anger issues, is a compulsive liar and is a master manipulator. Ability to speak with a southern accent is a plus. 100+ speaking lines and dialogues.

DR. JANINE TURNER: Janine is a female in her late 30’s-late 40’s of any race/ethnicity. Though she is the prison psychologist and counselor, she blurs the lines of professionalism as she looks for love in the wrong places. 50+ lines.

CHAPLAIN: The Chaplain is a Hispanic or white male in his mid-30’s or older.  The Chaplain is a sympathetic character. 50+ lines.
